Hammocks can serve several purposes on a playground. They allow children to stimulate vestibular impulses and proprioceptive feedback, they help develop balance and dexterity as children learn to control hammock movements, and they're a great place to sit and relax during a quiet or nap time.

Where swings pose high risk of injury and consume large amounts of space (to meet fall zone requirements), hammocks offer low impact, low key ways for children to enjoy the gentle back and forth motion so critical for development.

Log Benches are the best seating option because they add style and the feel of nature to any natural playground.

Slab benches are the perfect complement to a Natural Playground. They are made of logs cut in half lengthwise, so that growth lines can be seen and counted. They blend in beautifully in the middle of flower gardens, near the edge of woods or grassy areas, and help maintain a really natural feeling.

Natural Playground, Garden Benches should be placed in key locations that are shady and that invite supervisors to be "where the action is."  Benches invite conversations, create meeting places, provide a place for quiet contemplation, act as collection tables, and are wonderful for socializing while also giving children a place to rest while playing.

Tree Benches are a unique addition to any outdoor play area, and both kids and adults love the look and feel of them. These benches are built to wrap around a tree, so kids can get "up close and personal" with the tree. The shaded seating is provided without harming or prohibiting tree growth. The added benefit, is that tree benches also protect the soil around the tree from being compacted, which helps sustain vigorous tree health.
